Mini Contest Point Drive
We hope that you are all enjoying the mini contests! In order to keep them running we ask that you consider donating, if you want, towards the prize points!
If you have some spare points you are able to donate to support the mini contests, please donate them to the personal DA page of head admin (Misty-Dawn) specifying they are to support Zoo-photographers mini contests to help keep them running. Every little bit helps! All donators will be featured for a week here at the group journal.
We are still looking for a couple of members who would like to join our admin team and help with basic voting!
Particularly, what we're looking for is at least 2 admins. Preferably with photos accepted into the feature folder, demonstrating an understanding of expectations and quality for submissions into our folders. Also, and most importantly at this stage, who can drop in at least two or three days a week to thoughtfully vote on submissions.
If you are interested in joining our admin team please send a note to me (Misty-Dawn) with an introduction, links or thumbs to 3 of your best zoo shots and a small bit on why you want to join as admin! The admins will look at the applications and contact you individually!
We have such great members and we look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks!
Our current theme is MARINE ANIMALS!
For this folder, your shot can be any photo of dolphins, porpoises, whales, sea turtles, sharks, skates, rays, fish, penguins and any species that either lives in or relies on bodies of water for their food source.
Photos must be taken in a zoo, aquarium of similar setting. We will reject photos of any species that don't fit this description. This theme will change on the 20th of July.
Some of our older members may remember a time when we were a supergroup and we were able to feature a photo every month. While we are no longer a super group we appreciate your continued involvement and patience as our admin team transitions through grad school degrees and various other obligations that have occasionally stolen our focus. As a thank you to show how much we love our members and also to encourage everyone to continue pursuing and progressing their love of zoo photography, we will be starting a new tradition...
Member of the Month! Twice a month we will be featuring one members photos, two members a month and two blogs a piece. To be considered for 'Member of the Month' the individual has had to have a photo accepted into either the feature or theme folder. Members are chosen by admin team and may be member of the month only once! Please take the time to congratulate and encourage each other!

New Folders Open + Admins Needed
Hi everyone
It's been a while (a long while) since we last wrote a journal and I apologize for that. We're just two active admins here which is how I'll come to the first point of business:
:star: We're looking for admins to join our team :star:
Zoo-photographers (https://www.deviantart.com/zoo-photographers) once was *the* group you'd join if you were a zoo photographer. Since there are actually a lot of zoo photographers in the DA community, I hope one of you would be interested in joining our (now) small-scale group in the backroom and keep things running and maybe make the group more active again :)
If you're interested in the position of admin, please send me or the group a
April Theme Folders
Thanks everyone, for sticking with us, we'll try to offer you new theme folders each month for you to submit your photos to, while the Featured folder will of course be open for your best shots at all times :)
Since the group's focus lies, as the name suggests, with zoo photography, try to make sure your submitted photos were taken at a zoo, and if possible, specify at which one they were taken.
If your photo was not taken at a zoo, I'm afraid we can't accept it.

This time, we are visiting continents - meaning it's the origin of the species you photographed, that matters.
If possible, try to include the

New Folders and New Admin
:star:Two Folders Open:star:
We will continue to offer two feature folders until I can ensure a frequent changing of new topics. Please, please, please review the groups requirements and rules! I am seeing a higher number of domestic/pet and non-captive wildlife submissions as well as non photographic mediums.
